Valley Hoteliers Meeting
13 April 2010
The first meeting of its kind in at
least 3 years took place at The Grovesnor Hotel in Stockbridge on
Tuesday 13 April.
Requested by hoteliers and B&B
operators the meeting was arranged for local businesses
to better understand the Council's approach to tourism
and find out what the major visitor attractions in the Borough are
planning - as well as share best practice. It is also an
opportunity for some of the many small businesses operating in the
sector to get together, share their concerns and aspirations, and
develop a Test Valley business forum.
The meeting was introduced by
Councillor Giddings, who as Economic portfolio holder emphasised
the value of the visitor economy in Test Valley. Tourism South
East gave presentations on training and business support following
which Broadlands, Mottisfont Abbey and The Hawk Conservancy Trust
explained their programme of activities and plans for the
future.
The EDO described the Council's
support for tourism businesses and referred to the recently
produced Test Valley Visitor Guide, a forthcoming leaflet on Test
Valley Churches and other promotional material.
Visitor attractions and
accommodation providers thanked the Council for making such a
meeting possible and everybody looked forward to a follow up in
September 2010.
